Physiotherapy
Who are Physiotherapists?
Physiotherapists are clinicians who perform therapeutic activities or prevent diseases using physical factors consisting of exercise therapy, manual manipulation and instrumental therapy; physical therapists maximize, maintain and reconstruct any movement and function of the patient. They have in-depth knowledge of how the body works and specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms of illness, injury and disability. At Better Health & Wellness, Our clinic offers physiotherapy modalities like IFC, Ultrasound, Shockwave Therapy, and Spinal traction. Aside from that, physiotherapists prescribe exercises for every joint, muscle, soft tissue and so on.
How Do I Know if I Need a Physiotherapist?
If you have an injury, chronic pain, or movement limitations that affect your body functions or mobilization, consider visiting a physiotherapist. Your doctor may refer you to physiotherapy after surgery such as a hip replacement or an event such as a heart attack or stroke.
Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral To See a Physiotherapist?
The quick answer is "No". In Ontario, physiotherapists are considered primary health care practitioners, so a referral from a doctor is not necessary. However, if you have coverage for physiotherapy treatment through an extended health benefit plan, the insurance company may require a doctor’s referral.
